The Effervescent Erin
WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?
I was born in Newcastle but we moved to Sydney when I was 7. I lived there until I was 25 when I decided I wanted a slower paced lifestyle so back to Newcastle I came!
WHAT IS YOUR CLAIM TO FAME?
Me and my beautiful greyhound George were on the front cover of our local newspaper in 2017.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE YOU’VE TRAVELLED TO?
I recently explored New York City and I loved every second of it. Another highlight would be the Tivoli in Copenhagen!
WHAT IS AT THE TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST?
Getting to see as much of the world as I can. Oh and also, I would really love to meet a capybara.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED AT TERMINUS?
It will be 3 years in May!
WHAT DOES A USUAL DAY FOR YOU LOOK LIKE?
Every day at Terminus is different! As you can imagine there is a standard amount of admin work that goes in to working on the front desk. After those jobs are done, I love that part of my job is just getting to have a yarn with our guests about their travels.
WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO COFFEE STOP?
As I tell all guests when they ask me this question, I am a little biased. I was the head barista at Moor Newcastle East for a few years before moving on to Terminus. The coffee is ethically sourced and locally roasted by our friends at Floozy. The owners of Moor are also chefs so the food is top notch!
WHAT RESTAURANT RECOMMENDATIONS DO YOU GIVE TO GUESTS?
Sticky Rice is my go to for Thai food in Newcastle. Honorable mentions to Naka Noodle, The Falcon, Greasers and Masa Madre.
WHAT BAR RECOMMENDATIONS DO YOU GIVE TO GUESTS?
The Ship Inn just across the road is always a favourite of mine. Queens Wharf Hotel is also great for an afternoon bev on the water.
WHERE DO YOU SEND GUESTS WHO ARE VISITING NEWCASTLE FOR THE FIRST TIME?
Blackbutt Nature Reserve is an awesome, free wildlife park with so many critters for you to go and see! It is a 15 minute drive from Terminus so the perfect quick adventure. I also love the Bogey Hole, but it can be a little tricky to find!
